"Dylan was a revolutionary. Bob freed your mind the way Elvis freed your body." Bruce Springsteen

Well, they’ll stone ya when you’re trying to be so good
They’ll stone ya just a-like they said they would
They’ll stone ya when you’re tryin’ to go home
Then they’ll stone ya when you’re there all alone

But I would not feel so all alone
                                                     Everybody must get stoned

Lyrics like these describe Bob Dylan’s style as a songwriter and performer. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, Dylan is best known for his sophisticated lyrics and messages sent through his music. Dylan went through quite a few transitions with his music throughout the years. He had many folk and country influences, but Dylan decided to pick up the electric guitar in the 1960s and transformed himself into a rock legend. Dylan’s tenure as an artist has eclipsed forty years and his powerful lyrics can still be felt. Bruce Springsteen once said, “Bob Dylan freed your mind the way Elvis freed your body. To this day, wherever great rock music is being made, there is the shadow of Bob Dylan.” Perhaps Dylan’s best gift was his ability to reach all audiences with his music. Young and old, listeners could relate to his words and they went straight to the heart.
